Food Bank Volunteers Wanted

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is a non-profit organization that collects stores and distributes grocery items to nearly 350 agencies in southwestern Pennsylvania. These agencies include soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, after-school programs and more. Grocery items are distributed every month to more than 120,000 men, women and children with the help of volunteers.

Volunteers support the Food Bank in our repack center located in our warehouse in the city of Duquesne sorting, categorizing and boxing dno New Yearated grocery items. Our repack center is open Monday through Friday from 8am-3pm and most Saturdays from 9am-1pm.

Volunteers work on our Food Farm in Washington County where we grow fresh vegetables for distribution. Volunteers perform a variety of tasks from planting, weeding, cultivating the plants and harvesting. The farm operates year round every Saturday from 9-12:00 and on scheduled weekdays.

The Food Bank raises money through special events. These events need volunteer support to be successful. Volunteers lend a hand at Food Drives, Blues Festival, Empty Bowls Dinner etc. If you are interested in volunteering at our special events, please call and share your email address so we can contact you as the opportunities arise.

For more details or to schedule, please email Ivy Ero at iero@pittsburghfoodbank.org or Douglas West at dwest@pittsburghfoodbank.org. Or call either Ivy or Doug at 412-460-3663 x211 or x281.

With your support, we can ensure that our friends and neighbors in need receive the grocery items necessary each month.
